In 1973, the limited company „Guggenberger & Dobler” changed its name to Guggenberger & Dobler, Stanzerei und Werk¬zeugbau AG" and moved from Egg to Zumikon. Two years later, on the 14th of July 1975 the firm was entered into the commercial register under the new name "Gudo AG, Metallwarenfabrik". In 1995 the name was changed to Gudo AG.
The patented Gudo-Molitor-Fastener with micro adjustment has been continually improved and is still a hit today. With the taking over of the license for the production of the toothed belt-¬fastener, the plastic portion of the fastener increased considerably but the metal work still remained an important sphere.
The good development of the Gudo AG resulted in 1981 of the purchase of an industrial site in Oetwil am See. In April 1987 the municipal counsel gave permission for a new factory to be built on the site and in August 1988 the move could be completed to the new plant in Oetwil am See. The large new well equipped production facility, enabled Gudo to manufacture plastic parts for the first time themselves, also had a powder coating plant installed and was also fitted out with a modern tool making department. The two founders of the Gudo AG separated in 1985 and Herr Guggenberger took over the firm which for various reasons he sold to R. Burkhart in February 1990.
The healthy development of Gudo AG was abruptly interrupted by the surprising bankruptcy of the main customer, the Raichle AG. The new fastener type “Mega” was able to compensate to some extent, especially in the snowboard area. With the start in the helmet business– the head size adjustment with ratchet or turn fasteners, enabled the opening up of a new market. A leading market position was achieved for helmet fasteners through the take over of production and patent rights of the Swock AG. The “automobile accessory” market was entered at the same time, where we are strongly represented with our ratchets.
