In particular, they prevent the bike from coming loose and falling off the car. However, frame mounts can also be used when transporting a bike inside a car. This is because a frame mount also ensures that the bike does not wobble whilst on the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the one hand, this protects bikes when they are transported individually. Even slight movements within the rail can, in the worst case, cause damage to the rims. Above all, however, the rack is also useful when several bikes are loaded together. This is particularly true when they are transported close together on a rear rack, for example, as they can damage one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good bike frame holders ensure that the bikes are securely fastened. Does it securely accommodate different frame geometries?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Load-bearing capacity and stability: Can the rack support the weight of the bike? Straight<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzz.ch\/mobilitaet\/swytch-macht-aus-alten-velos-per-guenstigen-nachruest-kit-ein-e-bike-ld.1826364\"> E-bikes<\/a> often weigh a little more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ease of use: Is the frame mount easy enough to fit and use?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protection of the bike: Are the contact points on the rack rubber-coated or otherwise padded to prevent damage to the bike?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft protection: Does the frame mount have a lockable mechanism?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compatibility and resilience&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most important thing, of course, is that the bike rack is generally compatible with the bike(s) to be transported. Modern e-bikes in particular, where some of the technical components are often built into the frame, frequently have wider frames. Whilst the frames of slender road bikes often measure just 30 millimetres, those of pedelecs can be more than twice as wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good bike frame racks are therefore adjustable at the clamping mechanism itself. This means that different bikes can be transported using the same rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Gudo AG\u2019s frame retention system, this is achieved by means of a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gudo.com\/en\/products-2\/ratchet-fasteners\/\"> ratchet fastener<\/a> which guarantees maximum stability in use. The load-bearing capacity of the bracket depends primarily on the quality of the materials used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the design phase, we also ensured compatibility with a wide variety of bike types and frame geometries. The durable toothed belt and rubber pad system is fully adjustable. This allows you to securely mount bikes of all types\u2014from slim road bikes to wide e-bikes\u2014on the bike rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety features&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main purpose of a bike rack is to protect your bikes during transport and when the car, with the bikes on board, is parked. Whilst driving, this is primarily a question of the rack\u2019s stability and durability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fittings made from high-quality, durable plastics can withstand even heavy loads whilst driving. Sudden braking and sharp bends are therefore no problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the contact points (primarily the bracket itself) should be padded or rubberised where possible. This gives the locking mechanism extra flexibility. The bike frame can then be strapped down more securely. The padding also prevents the bike from being scratched when loading and unloading it onto the rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An additional lock on the rack protects your bikes from thieves. Locked with a key, it ensures that the rack cannot be removed by unauthorised persons. This makes it much more difficult for thieves to steal the bike from the luggage rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We took these points into account right from the design phase of our bike frame holder. It was clear to us from the outset that safety and flexibility need not be mutually exclusive. Bear in mind that you\u2019ll need to secure the bike on the bike rack not only at home, but also before setting off on your return journey. A locking mechanism that is too complex can, in the worst case, become a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our bike frame mount is designed with a particularly simple mechanism. The mount is attached to the carrier using a bayonet lock. This consists of a sturdy plastic sleeve that is slipped over one of the carrier\u2019s tubes. The mounting tube is then inserted into the sleeve and secured using a twist mechanism. The weight of the bikes ensures that the mount cannot come loose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bike is secured using a ratchet system. The bracket is shaped like a hand, so you can rest the bike on it whilst securing it. It then supports the weight of the bike, meaning you only need one hand to steady it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can then simply tighten the clamp with your other hand. The contact surface of the holder is made of rubber, whilst the timing belt is made of durable plastic. This combination allows any frame to be secured with millimetre precision. The clamp presses the frame into the rubber pad. This means it cannot move, even if the ride gets a bit bumpy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This not only ensures a secure hold, but also protects the bike from scratches and other minor damage. This is used to secure the ratchet fastener that attaches the mount to the bike.
