Choosing the right timing belt: How to find the right model

mood timing belt

Toothed belts offer a reliable means of transmitting power. This can be put to excellent use when fastening various items of clothing. For example, safety shoes can be secured snugly to the foot thanks to toothed belts.

Gudo AG offers a range of Timing belt for a variety of applications. In this article, we explain what makes timing belts special and which models we offer.

What are timing belts?

A timing belt is a belt that features a profiled surface. This distinguishes it from a flat belt, which has no such profile. The timing belt is paired with pulleys over which it runs. This makes the belt highly efficient at transmitting power.

What are timing belts used for?

One key area of application for timing belts is the clothing industry. Whenever a shoe or helmet requires a particularly strong hold, these belts can be relied upon. The timing belts manufactured and supplied by Gudo AG are used in this sector.

Our timing belts can be used, for example, in the following products:

With all these items, it is essential that they fit securely. Safety footwear is often worn in situations where there is a risk of injury – for example, in factories or during fire or police operations. It would be disastrous if the shoes did not stay securely on the feet. The same applies to gas masks.

Ski boots also need to fit snugly on the foot. Under no circumstances should they come undone on the slopes or even slip off the foot. This could endanger the wearer and possibly others as well put at great risk.

Transporting bikes by car must also be done without any problems. The bike rack must be securely attached to the car, and the bikes must be securely fastened to the rack. A frame holder is used to secure several bikes together. High-quality toothed belts prevent the connection from coming loose whilst driving, thereby avoiding any danger.

Other products that can be fitted with these belts are also possible. We offer a range of timing belt models. You are sure to find the right one for your specific application.

The timing belts in the Gudo AG range

RVR

We manufacture timing belts in the following widths:

The only model in our range that is 15 centimetres wide is UV15-F. The strap is 140 millimetres long. It can be threaded through the existing slot, or alternatively it can be sewn on.

Various timing belts in our range are 18 millimetres wide. They differ in terms of their length and the way they are secured. One of the shortest versions is UV18-S with a length of 85 millimetres. However, a version measuring 155 millimetres in length is also available. The slot measures 20 by 4 millimetres.

The Timing belt UM18-K is fitted with two slits. It is used in conjunction with a fabric strap that is threaded through the slits. This is why the strap is curved. It is 90 millimetres long.

Some 18-millimetre-wide straps are designed to be screwed or riveted in place. To this end, they have a hole at one end. In the case of the model UV18-R The bore can have a diameter of 4.5 or 5.2 millimetres. The surrounding countersink can be 10 or 10.5 millimetres in size. Various lengths ranging from 75 to 300 millimetres are available.

The strap has two holes UV18-I They are located at the end of the flag and each have a diameter of 4 millimetres and a recess of 10 millimetres. As for the length, you can choose between 100, 125, 160 and 200 millimetres.

Our 22-millimetre-wide timing belts are also available in various versions. With a 6.5-millimetre hole, the model UV22-R The strap is available in various lengths ranging from 125 to 400 millimetres.

The strap has a curved shape UM22-R This makes it easier to use for clamping round objects.

Timing belts in combination with tensioners

Some of our timing belts are designed for use in conjunction with a tensioner. These include the model RVS. It is 22 millimetres wide and features a 23-millimetre-wide end bar. This contains a cross-drilled hole with a diameter of 3.2 millimetres. The belt is available in lengths of 125, 200 and 275 millimetres.

To go with the RVS strap, we offer the Clamp fastener RVS/RVS-A It is compatible with the dimensions of the strap and, thanks to its swivel bracket, allows for virtually stepless pre-adjustment. It is also fitted with a snap-lock mechanism, which prevents the clasp from opening accidentally.

The RVB timing belt is also designed for use with a clamp fastener. With a width of 22 millimetres, the strap is fitted with a 27-millimetre-wide end bar. The cross-hole in the end bar has a diameter of 3.2 millimetres. The available lengths are 150, 200 and 275 millimetres.

The RVB strap goes well with the clamp of the same name. It features a round bracket for almost infinitely variable pre-adjustment.

Gudo AG: Experts in the design and manufacture of fastening systems

Gudo STC Soft

Gudo AG is your expert partner when it comes to fastening systems. At our production facility, we manufacture not only timing belts and tensioning fasteners, but also twist-lock and ratchet fasteners, as well as clips. We also produce specialist products such as hoof boots, headsets with protective covers, and police belts.

We are also happy to assist our customers with the development of new products. We take on key responsibilities at every stage of the process leading to a finished, market-ready product. This begins with a comprehensive consultation, during which you will benefit from our experience and expertise.

We will discuss with you whether the proposed design is feasible and whether the product will be profitable. We will also provide you with valuable insights that will help you refine your perspective on the product.

In addition to the Development Whilst focusing on the design, we also keep an eye on the engineering. The aim is to ensure, right from the planning stage, that the subsequent production runs as efficiently as possible.

Another service we offer in product development is prototyping. This involves producing early versions of the planned product. These prototypes are fully functional and operational, and can therefore be tested thoroughly. This allows us to identify any potential weaknesses, which can then be rectified and avoided in the next prototype.

We are also happy to manufacture the fully developed, production-ready product at our production facility in Lupfig. Here we use a variety of machines that enable us to employ different manufacturing processes. Whether injection moulding machines, 3D printers or stamping tools: our machinery is sure to include the right equipment for the intended production.

The same applies to the Assembly We can handle this if required. Thanks to our flexible assembly lines, we can carry out this work cost-effectively and on schedule. This applies to both large production runs and small batches.
